Aitor Irazu is from Irun and began making wine in 2012 with the grandparents' small vineyard in Fonzaleche, near Haro. Today Aitor runs Makatzak in Getaria together with cousin Jon Estebanez. Separately, Aitor makes own-label reds: a Rioja made in Labraza, in Rioja Alavesa, with Viñedos Hontza, and a Toro wine that will soon reach the shop.

Gaueko comes from biodynamically farmed grapes in Labraza: Tempranillo with a little Viura, Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha, fermented with stems except for the white grapes, eight months in used oak and eleven in bottle, with nothing added beyond a light sulphite addition at bottling.
