The Saint-Martin family has lived on the Cougot farm, in Lucq-de-Béarn, inside the Jurançon area, since 1888. Laurent and Pauline, the fifth generation, made the first wine of the house in 2015. The name recalls the “lucus”, the sacred wood the Romans found here.
Four hectares of Gros and Petit Manseng face the Pyrenees, at 280 metres, on calcareous-sandy conglomerate. Free of herbicides and fertilised with manure from the farm itself, they belong to the Nature & Progrès network. Harvested by hand, in several passes for the sweet wines, with only a little sulphur dioxide added to the moelleux to avoid refermentation.
