Sophie Kurdziel and Clément Maire are winemakers, qualified in Montpellier in 2009, and have lived in the Loire since 2011. In 2018 they took over a very old Cabernet Franc vineyard in the “Les Justices” site, in Ligré, within Chinon, and that is where the name of the house comes from. They make wine in Varrains, in Saumur-Champigny.
They farm about 2,5 hectares of their own and buy grapes from another 4,5 from neighbouring growers, all within 30 km of Saumur and certified organic. They harvest by hand, ferment with indigenous yeasts, age on their lees in used barrel or foudre and add nothing except, if needed, a few milligrams of sulphites.
